Beijing - Imperial Capital Tour

Beijing largely derives its notoriety from hosting the Chinese Capital for more than 1,000 years. At the center of it all rests the culmination of two forces -- a joint-venture between old and new -- The Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square , the needlepoint of the Emperor's populous domain and center court for ˇ°Red Chinaˇ± power-politicking following Mao's accession to the dragon throne in 1949.

Steal away with us for a day and explore the numerous treasure laden back allies of The Forbidden City and the mega social hub embodied in Tiananmen Square. Afterwards, while reflecting on all that ˇ°bootyˇ± we just danced off with, we skip on over to Beihai Park to drink in more picturesque views and a steaming cup of green tea- the Emperor's favorite pastime. Be your own EMPEROR!

Tian'anmen Square

Tian'anmen Square is the symbolic heart of the city that connects to the Forbidden City in the north. It is the largest city square in the world. Standing at the Tian'anmen Rostrum (Gate of Heavenly Peace), you will have a nice view of the splendid and magnificent square.

The square is flanked by the National Museum on the east, the Great People's Conference Hall on the west, Zhen'yangmen and the Arrow Tower on the south, the Monument to the People's Heroes at the center, and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall at the southern end.

Forbidden City

The Forbidden City (Imperial Palace) is the largest and best-preserved palace in the world. Twenty-four emperors of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties resided and handled state affairs here. It covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with about 800 buildings and 9000 rooms.

The Palace is composed of the outer and inner palaces. The outer palace consists of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony and the Hall of Preserving Harmony, where political activities were held. The area where the Hall of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Union and the Hall of Earthly Tranquility are located is the inner palace, where the emperor and his empress resided and handled daily affairs.

Beihai Park
Located behind the Forbidden City, Beihai Park used to be royal families' nearest resort place. It is well known for its Jade Islet, Beihai Lake and White Dagoba. The 35.9-meter-high White Dagoba, which was first built in 1651, housing the guiding God of city Beijing , is the most beautiful scenery of the city.
